Female inmate who collapsed and died at OCCC identified

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The medical examiner's office has identified a female inmate who died at the Oahu Community Correctional Center. 37-year-old Renee Lessary collapsed early Thursday at the facility's infirmary. She was transported to the The Queen's Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

Lessary had entered OCCC on Monday. She was awaiting trial after being arrested on suspicion of third-degree theft.

The case has been classified an unattended death, pending an autopsy.
