HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) has released the All-West and Preseason All-American Teams as well as the Preseason Rankings. HPU slugger Blake Amaral has been selected to the All-West First Team as a utility player and as an Honorable Mention for All-American. Hawai'i Pacific as a team is ranked ninth in the region.

Amaral had a monster 2011, despite missing time with an injury. He was an All-Region performer who set HPU's records for career doubles and longest hitting streak; he played and started in 34 games, hitting .388 with 16 doubles, two triples, two home runs, and 27 RBI. He had a SLG% of .589, an OB% of .459 and he was 6-6 in steal attempts. Amaral was selected to the 2012 Preseason All-PacWest Baseball Team.

HPU is coming off a 26-21 season in 2011, the Sea Warriors closed the season hot with six straight wins. HPU loses only one everyday starter, and looks to have a formidable lineup.  HPU was picked third in the PacWest Preseason Predicted Order of Finish.

The Sea Warriors open the season this weekend against UH-Hilo. The Sea Warriors will host a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 2 PM at Hans L'Orange Field.
