A driver charged with killing a woman at a McDonald's drive-thru two years ago gave up his court fight Wednesday.

Albert Birmingham was originally charged with manslaughter, but pleaded guilty to the reduced charge of negligent homicide. He also pleaded guilty to driving with a suspended license following a DUI and failure to render aid.

Birmingham got into an argument with the occupants of another vehicle in the McDonald's drive-thru in Nanakuli, and then ran over Raelynn Aloha Adams, 20, with his SUV as he fled the scene.

The victim's boyfriend, who was involved in the dispute that day, says he's disappointed with the plea deal.

"Not a day goes by that I don't think about the incident, not a day. It changed my life forever," Kimo Venne, victim's boyfriend, said through tears. "Yesterday would have been two years that we actually had her funeral. The family is, of course, disappointed."

Birmingham faces up to 10 years in prison when he's sentenced in April. He must serve a mandatory minimum of three years and four months because he has a prior conviction for criminal property damage.
