On Maui strong winds pushed a large sailboat onto a reef off of Lahaina.  No one was injured and the boat didn't stop surfers from catching a few waves around it. The strong winds on Maui also fanned flames at two separate wildfires. One of the fires in Kula forced evacuations. Three homes sustained some type of fire damage. One structure sustained some roof damage, unknown minor damages to the other structures.

On the Big Island the strong winds also are making it difficult for firefighters battling a wildfire in the Pahala area.  Highway 11 was closed in both directions between the 50- and 51-mile markers because of a wildfire. The strong winds also caused ironwood trees to fall in the Waimea area. One smashed a blue pickup truck. Those who live in the area say that one tree narrowly missed as home.

On Oahu the winds were to blame for early-morning power outages in Manoa and Makiki.

A wind gust of 98 miles per hour was recorded up on Mauna Kea, while gusts of 80 mph are being recorded at the top of Haleakala.
