Victim in Colo. shooting was a former Hawaii resident

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - One of the victims in the Colorado theater massacre had Hawaii ties.

Rebecca Wingo, 32, was among the 12 victims killed in the shooting at a midnight showing of the The Dark Knight Rises.

According to WOAI in San Antonio, Texas, Wingo was stationed in Hawaii with the Air Force.

Wingo was reportedly fluent in Mandarin and served as a translator.

"The sweetest smile you have ever seen and she got prettier as she grew older," Wingo friend's Hall Wallace said.

Wingo then left the military and settled in Aurora with her two young daughters.

She was originally from east Texas.
